I hadn't realised Katherine was a moderator over at Pres Cafe.

I recall the Abbie Dewhurst leaving Look North being posted in Newsroom Movers and Shakers as well earlier in the day which may had led to the deleting of the post elsewhere.

Pete, you seem a sound fellow... so I don't quite understand why you and others here are so keen to stifle any negative discussion about Pres Café? From what I see it's nowhere near as good as the old TV Forum, and many of the old forum stalwarts have been driven away. If I'm honest the guy who runs it comes across as a right tit! If it's whom I think it is, it's the same guy who whines on Clean Feed about the sheer injustice of the BBC not running full bulletins on bank holidays, or how ITV simply must move their news to 10.30 because News at Ten goes out at a different time once a month. I mean, heaven forbid these networks cater to their viewers!

And before the usual suspects try and shut me down - no, none of this really matters among the grand scheme of the cosmos. But it does seem a shame that such a unique, special community has been virtually destroyed, and all because of one man's power trip. If none of this really matters - and in a world beset by climate change and corrupt politicians, it doesn't - why try and ape Kim Jong-un or David Miscavige when all you're doing is running a forum discussing presentational inanities on TV? I just don't understand. Is he deliberately pushing people out that he doesn't like? Because that's not how you run a forum.

Admin PC, I know you read this thread religiously... so I'll tell you now: you're a tit! Give up whilst you're ahead. No one takes you seriously, and even fewer people like you.

(And as for Rob Francis, I know you've had a shit few years, and I really feel for you. But grow some fucking balls, man! These people bullied you... and you're defending them?!)
Go outside and get some fresh air. It’s a beautiful world out there.

I've moved on with my life. Time for others to do the same.

Oh, and telling someone with severe depression and suicidal thoughts to grow some balls... bravo. If only someone had told me that sooner.

I have no issue with people discussing or criticising Pres Cafe. I have issues with the site, and tbh preferred TVLF, I simply don't use it enough to be bothered enough to list them here.

What I can't be doing with is two things

- personal attacks
- tedious

the posts i punted into the bin of moved posts were 1/4 the former but 3/4 the latter. That was the major issue.

The fact we have, and have had for nearly 20 years, threads on this site where people can complain about another site in comically hysterical ways is simply bc its not something that should be taken seriously. These sites also cost a not insignificant amount of money to run and we get them for free without having to give up personal data in the manner of social media. So a sense of perspective is useful.

This isn't something I want a discussion about. So if we're all good you can press the thumbs up and say Yay. If you're not, then don't. But if you're going to keep labouring the point then you're putting your account at risk. Typing this out has already made my tea go cold and therefore has cost me several more pennies of electric.

I apologise in advance for the length of this post but there is a lot i want to say:

I've been a member of TVF, TVLF and PC and they've helped me through some dark times. Yes I've disagreed with much and I'm sure many have disagreed with me but I've always respected everyone's view (and I hope that has been mirrored).

I don't know how forums actually work in terms of the mechanics but I can understand that mods have a difficult job in keeping everything within the rules.

Not everyone likes rules but they are needed in civilised society and with forums and most of us go along with them.

But I feel every forum has a small group of users who feel they are the centre of attention and that every word they post has to be given top priority and that when that doesn't they turn nasty.

In the last few days of TVF I explained that I had taken a "leave of absence" because of all the vitriol and when TVLF closed I used some unsavoury language when describing similar.

In both I expressed a hope the poison wouldn't spread to any successors. Sadly I fear it has as the above posts have proved.

Is there a solution? Maybe a realisation by the "haters" that they are not the bee's knees and maybe by the mods that a bit more visibility may be best.

I don't know if this will register with anyone but I'm speaking from the heart.

Tardisrotor out.

So, even though I have been in TVF/TVLF/PC for a few years now, I characterise myself as a 'youngun' on the grounds that I have not been on a journey through all these websites for the entirety of their existence, so I cannot comment on every single thing that has happened, is happening, or whatever. That being said, I've seen the closure of two websites, and the discourse that some of you peeps have been saying. Quite frankly, its rather sad that one can get so impassioned about the websites people run, and how they choose to run them. In a weird way, this is a fandom, and there is a lot of toxicity that I think needs to be stamped out.

I've been toxic in the past, but when I was called out, I made promises to change my conduct, and I have. Do I like everything that PC does? Am I defender? No, and no. I'm just not invested enough to hate something when I have other things to worry about and ponder over. I've shared my opinions on the website- I do think it lacks personality and community, and I feel that the website could take itself a little less seriously (And I'm the guy who posts nostalgia threads, the international pres thread, unused idents celebration). If PC took itself 10% less seriously, and had a bit of fun, then it would improve it ten fold. As it stands, I think its fine as is, with some improvements needed.

This High school bull needs to end, and I think people need to stop attacking, and start criticising. If you don't like the mod who runs it, then sound. I don't know 'em, I don't have an opinion about 'em. I think there is a very simple solution to those people who do not like Pres Cafe, its moderators, Clean Feed, or its offshoots- don't bother with them. Its really a remarkably simple thing to do.

TL;DR: Grow up.

I think the events of the past few years have magnified our emotions as a whole and that has caused a great deal of tension and a need for release and forums seem to have been a source of that.

There is a lack of humour on PC though. A few more jokes and levity would help.
